Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan is refusing to meet FC Basel's asking price for striker Eren Derdiyok.
The Shields Gazette says Keegan is ready to make Derdiyok the first signing of his second spell at St James's Park - but only if FC Basel drop their £6m asking price.
Basel have slapped a £6m price tag on the 20-year-old, and that is around twice what Newcastle are willing to pay.
