Newcastle United winger Jonas Gutierrez cannot believe Sunderland's treatment of Marcos Angeleri.
The Argentina defender, 28, has endured a nightmare first campaign at Sunderland, failing to make a single Premier League start since his £2m move from Estudiantes.
But fellow Argentina international Gutierrez said: "I can't understand why he's not played for Sunderland.
"He is strong, quick, and a very good player. It's a strange situation and I can't really understand it as the manager signed him."
