Newcastle United winger Callum Roberts is grateful to coach Peter Beardsley after making his FA Cup debut in defeat to Leicester City on the weekend.
The 17-year-old North Shields lad was also full of praise for caretaker boss John Carver, who blooded the Geordie boy against Leicester in the FA Cup.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "It's good for me. Myself and Peter have worked together all season so hopefully he can bring me through and give me more chances in the first team as well.
"I think JC has been more focused on running the club. Not so much talking to players just doing his job.
"But he has been doing a good job and hopefully we can get the right results."
