Newcastle United are expected to receive £500,000 compensation from the FA following Michael Owen's thigh strain suffered in action for England last Friday.

Owen tore a thigh muscle in England's 1-0 win over Austria on Friday and could be out for six weeks, but Newcastle should receive enough money from the FA's new insurance policy to cover the bulk of his £110,000-a-week wages.
