Newcastle United intend to try again for Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga in January.

The Sunday Sun says Maiga still heads the list of players United would like to add, although scouts have been given a remit including Holland, Germany, France and Spain.

Nolan Roux is another under consideration for January.

The 23-year-old with Stade Brest had alerted United but was thought too raw.
