Plans for the return of Terry Venables as manager at Newcastle United have been shelved according to reports.

With current boss Joe Kinnear recovering from heart surgery, players called for Venables to be bought in to help the Magpies stay afloat in the Premier League but the club are believed to be happy with the current set up.

Assistant manager Chris Hughton is in charge with the help of his support staff and a move for Venables has been ruled out.
