Newcastle United will compete with Hull City for West Bromwich Albion striker Shane Long.
The Daily Star says Hull will face stiff opposition in their attempt to sign Long as Alan Pardew looks to strengthen an ailing Newcastle strike force.
Hull boss Steve Bruce's attempts to sign the Republic of Ireland striker last summer were dashed when he failed to put pen to paper before the transfer window closed.
Pardew is said to be on the look out for some fresh attacking options, with Papiss Cisse failing to find the target in 10 Premier League outings.
