Hull City legend Dean Windass has expressed his surprise at flop striker Abel Hernandez attracting the interest from the likes of Newcastle United and West Ham United.
Hernandez arrived at Hull amid much fanfare and a huge expectation on his shoulders due to the £10million price tag on his head.
However, the striker has failed to live up to the hype and it is widely believed that manager Steve Bruce will be looking to cut his losses on the Uruguayan international by offloading him in the summer.
While Hernandez may be unwanted at Hull, it has been reported that the likes of West Ham and Newcastle are interested in the striker and this fact has puzzled former Hull star Dean Windass.
Writing in his column for the Hull Daily Mail, Windass said: 'Recruitment and offloading players will be high on Steve Bruce's agenda in the next few weeks - after Premier League safety is secured.
'However, to hear the rumours of West Ham and Newcastle being interested in City striker Abel Hernandez came as a real surprise to me.
'I've said before in my column that I feel for the Uruguayan, who has found it difficult for whatever reason at the Tigers. With a £10m price-tag, supporters expected plenty of goals but, unfortunately, that's not been the case.
'Hernandez is only young and he will get better, but to hear of rival clubs being interested in the 24-year-old is puzzling.'
