Newcastle United U18 defeated Manchester United 1-0 yesterday.

The young Reds, who put five past Middlesbrough a fortnight ago, couldn't find the net in a game that produced very few genuine scoring chances at either end. There was little to pick between the sides and one goal early in the second half proved sufficient to give the hosts all three points.

Magpies midfielder Greg Olley hit an impressive individual effort for the winner.
