Newcastle United are making one final bid for West Brom striker Saido Berahino.

The Daily Star says they are ready to make an £18m offer in the next 48 hours and have not been discouraged by West Brom's insistence the 22-year-old is not for sale.

Newcastle believe that despite the Baggies' tough stance they could decide to cash in on their prize asset at the 11th hour.

Boss Steve McClaren is desperate to bolster his side's firepower, with Aleksandar Mitrovic struggling in front of goal, and if the deal went through it would take their spending since last summer past the £100m mark.
