Newcastle United have slapped a £10 million price-tag on Tottenham target Sebastien Bassong.

The Times says Bassong, 23, cost about £500,000 when he moved from Metz last year, but Newcastle are also reluctant to allow him to leave before a possible takeover because he may be wanted by the new owners.

Spurs have already offered £5 million for the Frenchman.
