Reading fullback Nicky Shorey admits he's yet to hear from the club about a new contract.

Newcastle United are keen on the England international and Shorey told the Reading Chronicle: "I haven't received an offer (from Reading) yet so there's not much to talk about.

"All I know is they want to extend my contract by a couple of years. But you're asking the wrong man.

"I've done well at Reading and I'm looking to get it sorted. I've got two years left on my current deal so we're not going to rush anything through. We have to make sure everything is right for both parties."
