Rickie Lambert has intimated he is happy to stay with Southampton.

The prolific striker has been linked with Newcastle United for the January market.

The 29-year-old had never played above League One until this season, but has already scored eight league and cup goals this season to silence critics who thought he might struggle.

"I'm confident I can score goals in this division - and even higher," said Lambert, ahead of Wednesday's trip to Cardiff. "I think we have a good chance of going up again."
