Newcastle target Douglas denies taking Dutch passport to get Twente exit

Douglas denies he's pushing to leave FC Twente.

The defender is a top target for Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew and a move to England has been smoothed with Douglas earning a Holland passport.

"People think I took the passport and the chance to play for Holland to get a transfer. But this is not true," said the Brazilian.

"Two years ago my girlfriend and I wanted a child, that was the main reason. We want our daughter to grow up here. And wherever I go in my career, we still want to settle here anyway."
