Newcastle United have launched a bid for Juventus youngster Pol Lirola.

Calciomercato.com says Newcastle offered €10m for Lirola, who is currently on-loan at Sassuolo.

Newcastle offered to cut Lirola's loan short, but both Juve and Sassuolo agreed to knock back the proposal.

The former Barcelona youngster is expected to see out the remainder of his two-year loan at Mapei Stadium, which expires this summer.

The 20-year-old has started the Neroverdi's last five Serie A games after being benched for the six prior to those.
