Newcastle, Sunderland circle West Ham for Demba Ba

Newcastle United and Sunderland are chasing West Ham United striker Demba Ba.

The Sunday Mirror says the Senegalese striker looks certain to leave Upton Park if the Hammers go down.

And the Magpies and Black Cats - loaded with cash from the sales of Andy Carroll and Darren Bent - will lead the chase.

The North-East duo are desperate for new strikers having collected almost £70million between them in January.

French-born Ba, 26, has been capped 10 times by Senegal. He joined the Hammers in January from German side Hoffenheim, after a £7m move to Stoke broke down due to a knee problem.

The Londoners agreed a £500,000 down payment for Ba - who signed a deal until 2014 - with the rest of the cash linked to appearances.
