Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger is still getting over last week's shock Carling Cup win at Chelsea.
The former Southampton trainee - who 12 months ago revealed United had saved him from a life of crime after enduring problems as a raw youngster in the capital - was rewarded on a glory night against Chelsea in the last round of the Carling Cup.
Ranger told the Evening Chronicle: "It was an amazing experience to play, score and then win at Stamford Bridge, even more so for me being a London lad!
"I will remember it for the rest of my life.
"To be just 19 and playing against teams like Chelsea and Arsenal is great for me.
"What was also fantastic was the fact I had a lot of family in the stands who came down to see me. I will not forget any of it."
