Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has been arrested on suspicion of rape, reports BBC Sport. Northumbria Police said they received a call on Thursday that a woman had been raped overnight at a hotel in Jesmond near Newcastle.
A spokesman said a 21-year-old man had been arrested at an address in Forest Hall on suspicion of rape.
A club spokeswoman declined to comment about the arrest.
