Newcastle Jets captain Joel Griffiths is becoming increasingly annoyed with the club letting players walk out for better deals. After twin brother Adam signed a three-year deal with Gold Coast United, Jets marquee player Joel has almost had enough.
"I think about this every day and, to be honest, it's really pissing me off," he told The Herald.
"I think it can be handled a little bit better and a little bit more professionally.
"We don't just want to let players leave. Players that have done so well for us, we seem willing to let other teams come in and snatch them."
After winning the Championship last season, the Jets squad has been ravaged by other A-League clubs and Griffiths made a point of what happened immediately after the completion of the season.
"I thought we would have learned something from Stuart Musialik, Mark Bridge and Andrew Durante, that little debacle back then," Griffiths added.
"It seems like we're willing to let good players leave and give advantages to other teams . . . I think the people who will be even more hurt than myself are the supporters.
"I think the hard, passionate Novocastrian fans are going to feel a little bit peeved."
