Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi's personal demands are too rich for Birmingham City.
The Sunday Express says Birmingham can't afford to continue their pursuit of Newcastle veteran Ameobi.
The Nigeria striker, 31, is in the final year of his contract on Tyneside and has hinted at a move but Birmingham boss Lee Clark is strapped for cash.
Championship rivals Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday are also interested.
