Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi says the players still have plenty to play for this season.
Ameobi, off contract in June, is chasing a place in Nigeria's World Cup squad.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "It would be nice to represent the club.
"We have a few other players that will be there so there's a good mix of guys here that are vying for a place on that plane to Brazil.
"To get the opportunity to go there at the end of the season is fantastic. It's something we are looking forward to.
"It's really exciting and it's a lot of motivation to make sure you are fit, playing well and you are playing for your team."
