Newcastle United are eyeing Manchester City fullback Wayne Bridge.

The Daily Star says Bridge looks certain to make a return to the Premier League next season - with Newcastle and Stoke City leading the race to sign him.

The former England star missed out on a return to the top flight while on loan at Brighton, who were defeated in the Championship play-off semi-finals by Crystal Palace.

The defender, who joined Manchester City from Chelsea for £10m in January 2009, is out of contract at City this summer.
