Newcastle United are stepping up their pursuit of Germany Under 21 striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
The Sunday Express says Lasogga, of Hertha Berlin, at 22 fits the requirements of Newcastle's transfer committee which includes owner Mike Ashley, young with bags of potential.
He could cost up to £10 million but manager Alan Pardew believes the experience of the Bundesliga will serve him well in the demanding Premier League.
