Newcastle United star Papiss Cisse could've been a Manchester City player.

The Telegraph says Sven Goran Eriksson wanted to sign Cisse for City - with current Toon chief scout Graham Carr heavily involved while then talent spotting for the Swede.

There were issues with passports and visas but Carr nevertheless recommended Cisse to City, then managed by Eriksson, only for the club to decide against the move because of the problems posed. But the scout did not forget the striker and continued to track him until a deal could be struck in the January window.
