Newcastle to slap in bid for Huddersfield striker Rhodes

Newcastle United are ready to launch a bid for Huddersfield Town striker Jordan Rhodes.

The Daily Mail says the 21-year-old, the son of former Dunfermline goalkeeper Andy Rhodes enhanced his growing reputation by scoring for Scotland Under 21s in their shock 2-1 win against Holland on Monday night.

And Rhodes, who made his debut for the senior side when he was given a late run-out in Scotland's 2-1 friendly win over Cyprus on Friday, has a £2m escape clause in his contract at League One Huddersfield Town.

Celtic are also interested in Rhodes.
