Newcastle United are expected to step up their bid for FC Twente defender Douglas in the coming days.
Twente must sell this summer after missing out on Champions League qualification and Douglas is a top target for Toon boss Alan Pardew.
The Brazilian-born defender qualifies for Holland in August and is also interesting Aston Villa.
