Newcastle skipper Nolan: Players did not have too much power under Hughton

Newcastle United captain Kevin Nolan is upset over claims former manager Chris Hughton allowed the players to have too much power.

Nolan admits the Magpies dressing room was left feeling shattered after the sacking of Hughton.

But he angrily denies claims that the players had too much influence under Hughton or that as captain he had a say in picking the team.

Nolan rapped: "For anyone to think that we run the dressing room is ridiculous.

"I don't know where it came from or how it has been portrayed but its nonsense. Chris ran the club from top to bottom and he ran that dressing room too.

"It is no secret that we were all disappointed when Chris left. We were all gutted."
