Newcastle United skipper Fabricio Coloccini feels Steven Taylor deserves an England call.

Coloccini and Taylor have been at the heart of a Toon defence that is currently the best in the country.

Coloccini told the Evening Chronicle: "The main thing he has to do is keep on playing well for Newcastle first. After that if anything happens (with England) it can only be good for us as a club.

"But he is playing very well and at the right standard which is required to play at the top.

"It's working well between me and Steven Taylor. Clean sheets are very important for any defenders and we are picking them up this season."
