Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren has admitted the club is on the verge of crisis following their winless start to the Premier League season.
Compounding the Magpies woes was the home loss to Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday.
McClaren says his team needs to improve in all facets of the game if they are to have any hope of turning their season around.
"People say it's a crisis and it's getting very close to it. We deserve to be criticised," McClaren said.
"We have got the quality, but we are not producing it. It is hard to put your finger on. We have to find a solution - mentally, technically, tactically."
Newcastle currently sit second from bottom in the Premier League, with just two points from their opening six fixtures.
