Newcastle United have coughed up €11m to sign Mainz striker Yoshinori Muto.

The Japan international's move was settled last week, with Toon boss Rafa Benitez announcing the deal. However, nothing will be rubberstamped until Muto secures a UK work permit.

Muto has stated he needed to leave the Bundesliga after losing some motivation.

"Maybe it has to do with habituation, but in Germany I honestly hardly feel any excitement," he said.
