Yanga-Mbiwa spent eight years with Montpellier and last season played alongside Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud as the club shocked French football by winning the title.
He said: “I want to push my limits as I find the Premier League magnificent.
“In terms of the tackling it corresponds to the way I play and to what I like. Above all, they live for football.
“I like Manchester United — it’s the first shirt I had. It’s true that people expect a lot of me and I try and live up to that. But it’s a good form of pressure that helps you advance and to be even more dedicated, more professional and irreproachable.
“I like to watch videos of my future opponents, the way the opposition striker behaves. It’s amusing. It becomes like a game between me and the striker, who guesses first what the other one will do."
