Newcastle signing Ba cannot wait to get things underway

Newcastle United recruit Demba Ba is extremely excited about his move from West Ham United.

The 26-year old Senegalese striker signed a three-year deal with the Magpies today and says it is exciting times ahead for the Geordie club.

"With the new signing from last week, Yohan Cabaye, and all the players they have, it is a really interesting challenge," he told Sky Sports News.

"Coming to Newcastle, a big club, that was the reason why I made this move.

"I can't wait to start playing here. I am very excited.

"I have never played here. I came to West Ham a couple of days after they played here against Newcastle.

"I can't wait to start playing here and see how good the stage is."

And Ba added that he will have to continue working hard if he is to regain the form that helped him score seven goals in 13 appearances for the Hammers.

"The only way to keep that level is to work hard, so I'm going to work hard to keep that average I had at West Ham," he added.

"As soon as I step on the pitch in football my ambition is to get those three points.

"I'm just going to keep on doing this and if we win as many games as possible I'll be happy."
