Newcastle United are believed to be very keen on Swansea City defender Ashley Williams.
Sky Sports is of the belief that the Magpies are watching the 27-year old very closely with manager Alan Pardew in the market for a new centre-back.
Williams has been a driving force for the Welsh club since his move from Stockport County in 2008 and is reportedly attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs with Newcastle at the forefront.
Pardew already has Fabricio Coloccini, the returning Steven Taylor and Mike Williamson as central defenders but is keen to bring in more quality so he can have a real crack at moving up the Premier League table along with providing a good performance in the Europa League next term.~
