Newcastle showing interest in Swansea's Shelvey

Newcastle United are believed to be keen on Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.

The Mirror is of the belief that Magpies boss Alan Pardew is keen to reunite with the talented 22-year old midfielder after giving him his start at Charlton Athletic back in 2008.

Shelvey joined the Swans from Liverpool for £5million in July last year and has scored six goals in 30 Premier League outings this season, including a sublime 50-yard volley in Saturday's 4-1 win over Aston Villa.

Pardew sees Shelvey as a possible long-term replacement for Yohan Cabaye who left St James' Park for Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth around £20m in January.
