Newcastle United are set to finalise a deal for Deportivo La Coruna defender Fabricio Coloccini.

The Evening Chronicle says United's policy these days is not to talk about transfers until they are done and dusted, but they must know that the appearance of Coloccini at St James's Park tonight against PSV Eindhoven would help boost the game even if he is not able to play.

However, Deportivo have been more forthcoming on the transfer and their main newspaper Depor Sport says that United will pay 11.5m spread over two payments, one in cash and the rest in 12 months time.

And the Spanish paper has revealed that as part of the deal, United will take part in next season's Teresa Herrera tournament in La Coruna.
