Newcastle United have set a deadline for interested clubs to sign Yohan Cabaye.
The Journal says United are now working to an in-house deadline of Friday to conclude any business in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners are reportedly poised to return with an improved £13m bid for Cabaye, after their original £11m was dismissed last week.
Their offer looks set to be turned down however, as Newcastle want £18m for a player boss Alan Pardew describes as "one of the best in the world in his position".
The Magpies are expecting a bid from Paris St-Germain but even they are reluctant to match that figure.
