Newcastle sales talk stalls manager search

Newcastle United's managerial search is stalling after owner Mike Ashley publicly declared the club was for sale this week.

The Evening Chronicle says the big worry on Tyneside is that if Ashley is prepared to sell the club why should he bother to appoint a new manager and, in the cases of Gus Poyet and Paul Ince, pay millions of compensation to Spurs and Blackburn Rovers respectively?

And at the same time just which manager would now want to come to St James's Park when they could be shown the door by the new owners?
