Newcastle's Vignaroli still hampered by injury

Newcastle Jets midfielder Fabio Vignaroli is still being hampered by a hamstring injury.

The Italian ace aggravated the problem in the loss to Nagoya Grampus on April 22 and returned home to receive treatment.

He is now back in Newcastle but is unlikely to be available for the Jets all-important encounter with Ulsan Hyundai in Korea on May 20.

"I'm making every effort to be able to play," Vignaroli said.

"It will depend on how it feels at the time. I want to see the club get through to the next round and I want to be a part of that.

"I knew I couldn't play last [Wednesday] night."

If Vignaroli cannot get up for the Ulsan match, he may have played his last game in Jets colours but is hoping to extend his contract with the club.

"I've had other approaches, but I've got to know how they play here and I like Newcastle and I'm quite happy," he added.

"The marquee status isn't such an important issue for me.

"As long as the Jets can come to some type of arrangement, the actual title is not of significance to me. If somebody else is given the marquee status or title, that's fine."
