Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has been arrested and has had his car seized on suspicion of fraud.

Reports suggest that the Ivory Coast midfielder has been nabbed on suspicion of fraud for driving offences and has had his £75,000 Chevrolet Camaro detained.

"At about 1.30pm on February 12, a car was stopped on Benton Park Road, Newcastle, and a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of fraud in relation to driving offences,” said a Northumbria Police spokesman.
