Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has apologised to Manchester City's Manuel Pellegrini after the pair clashed during Sunday's encounter at St James' Park.
Pardew and Pellegrini exchanged non-pleasantries on the touchline and the Toon boss admits the words were simply out of anger and frustration and not on a personal level.
"I hear that it's been picked up a little bit, and I apologise for my comments 100 per cent," he said.
"It was a heat of the moment thing. We just had words that we always have as managers, to a degree. I have apologised to him and fortunately for myself, he has accepted that."
Newcastle were beaten 2-0 by City at home to remain eighth on the table with Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Negredo on target for the visitors.
