Newcastle's Pardew eager to tie down QPR's Remy

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew says the club is doing everything they can to keep Loic Remy.

The French striker scored 14 Premier League goals while on loan from QPR this season which has alerted plenty of other clubs in England and around Europe.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with Remy but Pardew insists the Magpies are remaining confident of securing him to a permanent deal.

"It's obvious that we need to recruit offensive players that are good enough for Newcastle and that's what we're going to focus on," Pardew told Sky Sports.

"We're not completely resigned (on Remy), we're working hard to keep him.

"He has been an important part of our season - if you take him away, we'll need to replace him for sure. We lost (Yohan) Cabaye in the Christmas period and that has been difficult for us."
