Newcastle's Pardew cops FA fine for pushing official

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has been charged and fined by the Football Association for his actions in yesterday's 2-1 Premier League win over Tottenham.

The Toon boss has been charged for misconduct after pushing assistant referee Stuart Burt during his side's opening weekend at Sports Direct Arena.

"The FA has today [August 20] charged Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew with misconduct following his side's match against Tottenham Hotspur on 18 August 2012," read an official FA statement.

"Pardew has until 4pm on 23 August 2012 to respond to the charge."

Pardew was sent to the stands after the incident but was able to oversee his Magpies outfit score first through Demba Ba before conceding to Jermain Defoe and then scoring a winner from the penalty spot through Hatem Ben Arfa.
