Newcastle's Nolan keen to put Carroll transfer to rest

Newcastle United captain Kevin Nolan feels the club should move on and put the Andy Carroll transfer saga behind them.

Carroll was a shock transfer on the final day of the January window, moving to Liverpool for £35million, sending Newcastle into a spin.

Many have come out and said that Carroll has moved to early, showed disloyalty to the Magpies or simply isn't worth the fee he left for.

But skipper Nolan, who became very close with Carroll in recent times, says nothing can be done about it so why harp on.

"If fans don't like it, I apologise," said Nolan.

"It was never meant to affect them. But Liverpool is a great club and everyone knows that.

"There's no-one more disappointed than me.

"Not only have we lost a top player but I've lost a good mate who was very close.

"To be honest, I'm getting quite sick of the whole Andy Carroll saga. I just want to put it to bed and get on with it.

"The last thing I want is to start upsetting our fans because they have been brilliant."
