Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins is to undergo a hernia operation in Germany early next week.
The procedure will force Martins to miss a few weeks of action but he should make a full recovery.
Reports have suggested that the Nigerian has been unhappy with medical staff at St James' Park but they are untrue according to the player himself.
"I wish to make it perfectly clear that I have never criticised the medical team at Newcastle United, who all do an excellent job for the Club," he told the club's official website.
"All I am concentrating on is getting fit again as soon as possible so I can be back playing and helping the team."
