Newcastle’s Elrich supports Central Coast for family reasons

Newcastle Jets’ Tarek Elrich is backing the Central Coast Marines to do well in the Asian Champions League for his brother Ahmad’s sake.

Both the Jets and the Mariners are still in the group stage of the competition and need much-improved performances in the final two matches if they are to progress further.

“Hopefully they (Mariners), and Ahmad in particular, do well,” he said.

“I think both of our clubs were probably a little disappointing last season and we’ll be looking to make up for that.

“Who knows, we might meet later in the competition and hopefully we will win 2-1…with him scoring one and me scoring a double!”
