Newcastle United are being linked with Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford.

The Evening Chronicle says Toon may take a second look at the Jermaine Beckford situation following Leeds United's failure to beat Doncaster in yesterday's League One play-off final.

The 24-year-old was linked with a move to St James's Park shortly after his former boss Dennis Wise was appointed as executive director.

However, a dip in form resulted in the Londoner netting just five times since the turn of the year to slowly reach 20 goals after a rapid start to the season.

Beckford, though, could now be available for a knockdown rate, with Leeds having to reassess ahead of another season of third-flight football.
