Newcastle remain keen on Rangers Bosman prospect Boyd

Rangers striker Kris Boyd remains on Newcastle United's shopping list.

The Sunday Sun says United are looking to make a move for Boyd when his contract with Rangers expires in midweek.

And the 26-year-old is keen on joining United ahead of rival clubs at home and abroad, including Middlesbrough.

Although completely unproven in England, Boyd's prolific scoring record - 125 goals in 174 domestic appearances for Rangers - and free agent status are highly attractive to a club keen to keep costs down.
