Newcastle United have rejected an approach from Birmingham City for goalkeeper Steve Harper.
The Evening Chronicle says the 37-year-old was on new Birmingham boss Lee Clark's summer wish list, but Harper looks set to stay on Tyneside.
Clark – who has already signed Newcastle striker Peter Lovenkrands – was looking to sign the United stalwart, as interest on his highly-rated 19-year-old keeper Jack Butland is increasing.
