Newcastle United are ready to sell Shay Given, it has been revealed.

The Sun says Toon manager Joe Kinnear has been given £10million to spend but wants more to strengthen his team.

And the club accept they will be forced to sacrifice the Ireland keeper if Manchester City confirm an £8m bid.

It now appears inevitable that Given's 11-year stay at St James' Park will end this week.

And his first game for City could be next week - against Newcastle.
