Newcastle United are pushing Aston Villa to drop their asking price for Darren Bent.

And the former England striker - who married fiancee Kirsty yesterday but is heading for divorce with Aston Villa - will have to lower his demands of a four-year deal on £75,000 a week.

Newcastle are prepared to pay a nominal fee for Bent, who had one of his most productive scoring spells under Alan Pardew at Charlton, and will offer the 29-year-old a two-year deal.
